THE ANSWERS YOU NEED

CONSENT AND COMMUNICATION

Consensual sexual activity is a mutual decision reached by both parties without any hint of force, threat, coercion, pressure, fraud, manipulation, intimidation, fear of injury, or impairment from alcohol or drugs.

Examples of consent communication:

  • "Would this be okay with you?"

  • "What would you like me to do?"

  • "What turns you on?"

  • "Would you want to try this?"

CONSIDER THIS:

  • A person cannot consent if they are passed out.

  • If someone has consumed a lot of alcohol they cannot give true consent. If you are unsure that someone if someone is capable of giving consent, don't have sex.

  • Silence is not the same as consent. Yes means yes.

  • Consent is an ongoing process and can be revoked at any time.

WHAT IS SEXUAL HARASSMENT?

Unwelcome sex-based and/or gender-based verbal, non-verbal, written, online, and/or physical conduct of a sexual nature that is:
ï‚· sufficiently severe, or
ï‚· persistent or pervasive, and
 objectively offensive that it: Unreasonably interferes with, denies or limits someone’s ability to participate in or benefit from the University’s educational, employment, social, and/or residential program from both a subjective (the reporting party) and objective (reasonable person) point of view.
